Speaking

May 31, 2024

Emotional Intelligence was the topic of a presentation given @ForsythTech Involving many aspects of ways to respond to situations as an emotionally health individual.

Presenting on this topic encouraged me to continue to focus on ways to educate individuals about mental health, provide enrichment through workshops and enlightening conversations.

Decreasing Financial Stress was a requested topic by @ElonUniversity through partnership with @MyGroup

MyGroup EAP contracts with providers to offer one on one counseling, disruptive event management, crisis intervention, benefits fairs and workshops surrounding many topics.

My enjoyment of speaking combined with my enjoyment of helping has afforded me the opportunity of going outside of the office into the community we serve.

Second Annual Senior's Mother's Day Tea

My mom loved her dishes aka her china with multiple china closets and crystal and the like.  I often wondered why she would only use these

items for special occasions and have since learned more about Teas, China and tradition.

After her passing in 2020, I inherited her dishes and looked at them and was reminded of her.  To change this memory from one of loss and grief to joy and honor, after a suggestion from Carla about hosting a Tea, the Tea party was birthed.

The original plan was to focus primarily on the mothers of my home church but quickly grew to the desire to encompass them all.  Churches near and far were issued the invitation and this year we had a total of 40

or participants.

We heard from Victorious Christian Ministries, enjoyed Lola's Kitchen, was treated to words from Rev Donna Vanhook, Ms ODena Ford, learned of community resources and shared about "Joy in the Morning" with Ms Linda Greenwood, our keynote speaker.

We are looking forward to celebrating again next year May 3, 2025 location TBD.

Kicking off Mental Health Month, @ForsythTech

More Rest, Less Stress focused on self care and how learning how to better treat time can lead to less stress.

Participants were shared two screening tools use to help clients deal with stress including the stress questionnaire and the self care assessment.

Each of these affords them the opportunity to see where they are and what they need to do to reduce stress.

it is always a joy to work with the teams there @ForsythTech

Does your addiction affect your loved ones?

As the awareness of mental health issues has been expanded, the acceptance of addiction as a disease has also increased. When people talk about addictions, most assume either drug or alcohol addiction. However, there are many more types that are common. Exercise addiction, food addiction, computer addiction and gambling are all common forms of addiction in today’s society. When someone is addicted to something, they have an impaired control over the behavior, they become preoccupied with the behavior and continue to engage in the behavior despite the negative consequences. Not only can addictive behavior be harmful to one’s self, it can be detrimental to your family and friends. How does all of this impact a relationship? What can we do to reverse some of the unfavorable effects of addiction in a relationship?https://hwcdn.libsyn.com/p/e/3/7/e37be854515655d3/SHM-306-09012014.mp3?c_id=7570050&cs_id=7570050&expiration=1643257050&hwt=9b8117fcbc42c77426f7c4826204deb2
